Books I Read in 2007

I passed by the blogs of a couple of bibliophile e-friends, and I found it quaint how they kept track of time by the books they read. :) So their New Year posts consisted of book lists like this one. Only, this isn't complete since I only started keeping track around September/October. And this doesn't contain the titles that I started but haven't quite finished reading yet. Here goes.

If you've read any of the titles below, let's get together and share!! ;)

  1. Philip Yancey!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one of my favorite authors! he's so insightful, makes me rethink my faith. love his books! i haven't read 'the jesus i never knew' though. his books demand to be really thought over. galing niya!

  2. I want to read ALL of Yancey's books. ;) I'm the newest member of his fan club.

I haven't read a lot of Kierkegaard but I find him very read-able, not like "nosebleed" philosophers who write run-ons upon run-ons, haha! He's such a gifted writer, you could get lost in the beauty of his prose alone. I love how he re-words and expounds upon biblical "truths" and applies them to real life situations (like his "Edifying Discourses," which are study guides of Scripture, in miniature). And his "life stages" were a revelation to me! I personally went through the "aesthetic" stage not very long ago (those darn mood swings), and am now in the "ethical" stage, hoping to get to the "religious" stage in time.

That's right, "Kierk-ey" was one of the fathers of Existentialism (Man is reponsible for defining our own subjective reality) but, unlike Nietzsche, he did not deny God's existence.

  12. Hi Kim! Hehe...it's not actually that impressive, you'll notice some comic books and a lot of them were actually very thin volumes :) I've a lot of catching up to do kasi, reading-wise. Naghahabol ako.

That's one of my New Year resolutions!! Read the paper everyday and not just depend on inquirer.net for my daily dose of news :)

  13. That's great, Cass! :-) It also makes for an easier time when you want to update your book inventory (which will come in handy when the day comes that you own as many books as the Beast... aaaaaah to have a library like his! *sighs dreamily*)
