First Few Weeks of School

It's official! I am now an (assistant) teacher at Multiple Intelligence School (Grade 1) and San Vicente Elementary School (Grade 4).

So far I'm enjoying my teaching stint. :) MuEd 125.... take it take it take it! You'll learn so much.

luff the actual teaching... I must admit I have little patience for making lesson plans. They rarely get followed exactly as they were written down naman e...that's why it's called an "l.p.." it's just a plan.

I now have a tentative date for my 3rd undergrad recital! October 16, 2007, Tuesday, 6 p.m. at Aldaba Hall. Haha ang lakas ng loob kong ipost. This is T.E.N.T.A.T.I.V.E!! meaning i have to pass the auditons/exams first.

I also have a rehearsal sched with the instrumentalists, kulang na lang cellist! It's so hard to find a continuo cellist. I'm overwhelmed that the great Sir Eudy Palaruan agreed to play the harpsichord continuo... it is SUCH an honor!

I'm enjoying my NatSci 2 and STS classes immensely, I must say. Why weren't we taught Science like THIS back in high school? I swear, I might have been a Geologist/ Chemist/ Physicist in college had I been taught the way the U.P. profs teach. They're amazing... hats off to Sir Mahar Lagmay (he has a Ph.D. in Geology from CAMBRIDGE!?!?! *idol*) and Sir Fidel Nemenzo for making my 2 science courses infinitely interesting. I don't mind waking up at 4:45 a.m. to make it to Sir Mahar's 7 a.m. NatSci 2 class on time. :) It's worth it.

I've also joined Kuya Armin Comon's NOLI cast. So exciting!?!?! But the rehearsal sched.isn't easy... Thursdays and Saturdays 6-8 p.m. are blocked for almost the entire sem. As Keith  put it, "We won't be going out much for the next few months." Haha! Korek ka diyan, Keith.

I missed the Ex Libris Philippines June book session today. :( I went to UP along with Tata with every intention of going, unfortunately THE CURSE hit me so powerfully... I was K.O'd from the pain as soon as I arrived in U.P. :( Times like these, it sucks to be a girl. At least men feel pain only once their entire lives. *harrumph* And you consider yourselves the stronger sex??!

Oh yeah! We watched TRANSFORMERS last night! Wahoo! K.E.W.L.E.S.T. movie of the century! (Next to "300," of course)

Also, the National Bookstore branch in Powerplant Rockwell is now open! Tata and i screamed when we found out, and RAN inside, abandoning all poise and finesse. Good thing Rockwell was (and still is) on sale this weekend. I got Khaled Hosseini's new book, A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS. Am already halfway through it... it's as engrossing as its predecessor, THE KITE RUNNER (which is now on the Ateneo highschool reading list, I understand).

Okay, gotta go pay off my sleep debt now, while I can. Tomorrow is designated LESSON PLAN MAKING / DOING HOMEWORK day. Toodles!

First Week of School

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RIVA!!! :) Today was her "12th" birthday, and being the overly generous girl that she is, she treated some of us to pizza in the SC. We had so much fun! Great food, great company, what more can one ask for?

Riva dear, I'm so sorry... alam mo na kung bakit. Hope we can have a "date" soon, haha! Just the two of us. We have so much to talk about... *hug*

Congratulations to Feona and Anna in advance! They're singing tonight at Paco Park, with Oliver Salonga the pianist. Too bad I couldn't watch. Big time na sila, wahoo! Go batchmates!

The first week of class consisted of myself attending classes where more often than not the prof. was absent (ho hum... was expecting it already, so I brought along things to occupy myself with... i.e. scotch tape, scissors and scores for the instrumentalists who oh-so-generously agreed to accompany me).

No profs = free time = several opportunities to catch up with old friends, make several new ones and take care of extra-curricular activies. Like joining the UP Vocal Ensemble!!! Albeit temporarily. :) I'll be singing with them on Monday night for the UP's Foundation Day performance at the University Theater. We'll be singing BAHAY by Gary Granada, SA MAHAL KONG BAYAN by Lucio San Pedro, UP NAMING MAHAL and TAGUMPAY. I have to memorize all four songs over the weekend, gulp! But I am so psyched to be singing with a choir again, even if it's only for one night. Brings back high school Chorale memories.

I'm slowly but surely becoming a (brewed) coffee addict. It's a good thing I'll no longer grow any taller. I can drink all the coffee I want without fear of growing up to be vertically challenged. :)

Ah... this is the life... living at a slower pace is so nice! I have the time to appreciate every little event, every jeepney ride, each friendly greeting, each memorable conversation.

This week has been one of the most enjoyable of my life. An auspicious beginning, indeed. Here's to the semester to come!

Oh my gosh I am so old... I'm in my 5th year?!?!

First of all, congratulations to my dear batchmates and friends Raymond Sanga and Domini Robledo for their wonderful recitals! (Raymond had his 2nd undergrad recital on the 8th, and Domini had her first recital on the 11th)

This is it. My second-to-the-last sem. Suddenly I am forced to think deeply/seriously about my future, because everything will change after two sems. My Moleskine journal is filling up rapidly with pages and pages of hastily scribbled thoughts, random scenarios and to-do-lists with titles like: "What I see myself doing 1year/ 3 years/ 5 years/ 10 years from now..."

That said, I am fully determined to make the best out of my last two semesters in U.P. CARPE DIEM! is my motto.

Live joyfully. Laugh loudly. Love deeply. And sing as I've never sung before.

1st Day of Enrollment

** The reason I don't update my blog that often nowadays is because I've become addicted to writing down my thoughts in my beee-ooooo---teee--fooool Moleskine. But I'll try to update as much as I can**

I woke up at the unholy hour of 5 a.m. today. Actually, this is about the time that I usually wake up when there's school. Unfortunately, my body clock had adjusted to my 6 to 6:30 a.m. waking up schedule during the summer. It took all of my willpower just to get up from bed. Oh, flesh, that art so inconstant!??!

Got to U.P at 7, cleaned the boarding house room and read the newspaper til 9.

Went off to Music to start the looooong process that is enrollment... only got as far as getting my form 5A because

  a) the Oratorio Lit. class still doesn't have a schedule

  b) the College of Science didn't have the class lists today so I can only cancel my Nat. Sci.1 class tomorrow *sigh*

Apol, Tanya and I went along with the Ma'am Kitchy voice major babies (Aretha, Kim, Michelle and Sarah) to have lunch at Chocolate Kiss, where they presented Ma'am Kitchy with a gorgeous cake before having a hearty lunch. I had gorged myself on tocino, egg and rice for merienda so I only had a slice of blueberry cheese cake and cream of mushroom soup. 'Twas good to bond with my fellow voice majors. Thanks so much to Kim for the ride!

Went back to the B.H. after our extended lunch break, where I took a short nap.

Woke up when Tata and Ogot joined me at the BH. We then proceeded to Choco Kiss (again?!) to meet up with Hanna, Gerico, and Judith (oopsie, I mean Camille!). Had a wonderful time! There were a few awkward moments but pretty soon we were all chatting like old chums.

I still can't get over the 'flowers' analogy that Tata used to describe the waiters in Choco Kiss! (if you're curious, ask me about it privately and I'll tell you... and see if you can get it)

Pics to follow.

2nd day of enrollment tomorrow. *sigh* Oh well. At least I'll get to see my collegemates, and hopefully get to catch up with some friends.
